Passing the Driving Test shows that you are capable of driving a car safely. Accidents statistic show, however, that people - whatever their age - have more accidents in the first few years of driving and fewer as they become more experienced.

The PASS PLUS scheme has been introduced by the DSA to give newly qualified drivers additional coaching and experience. Several insurance companies are behind the scheme and a Pass Plus certificate can bring big savings on your driver insurance and offset the costs of your basic training.

The course covers urban and rural driving, driving at night and in poor weather, driving on dual carriageways and - something you could not do before passing your test - motorway driving.

The course can be taken any time within a year of passing your test. The Drive-how course takes about 7 hours which gives us time to experience some motorway driving on the M5 as well as work on more local roads. There is no formal test at the end; once you have achieved the goals in the course you will receive a certificate to show to your insurer.
