Anxious drivers

Drive-how specialises in helping drivers to OVERCOME DRIVING ANXIETIES and FEARS, including total DRIVING PHOBIA.

As many as one in three experienced drivers feels anxiety at some aspect of driving.  Anything from parking to busy traffic, particular junctions to motorways or driving at night.  If that is you, you are not the only one - and you can overcome it.

I have experience of working successfully with a wide range of difficulties, from minor anxiety to total Driving Phobia.

If you are nervous or lack confidence, I will help you to develop your driving skills and to learn strategies and approaches to help you to feel more comfortable and in control.   If you find an aspect or situation difficult, I will use my broad experience of education and training to adapt the teaching and find approaches that suit you.

If you are unable to drive in some situations or even at all, due to extreme stress or fear, I will work with you to develop a step-by-step plan to reduce your negative feelings, to explore the situations you fear and to build your confidence, so that you can drive in the ways and places that you want and need.

If your phobia seems irrational, maybe with no obvious cause, I can offer you Practical Driving Therapy, based on the principles of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.  I can help you to learn to think positively about driving and to learn skills and techniques so that you can reclaim the driving seat, feel once more in control and regain your freedom.

Whether you are a new driver, apprehensive about learning, or an experienced driver, worried about venturing onto the roads, or even a driver who has given up driving completely, take that first step.  You have nothing to lose and loads to gain.   There will be no negative criticism if things are shaky; we'll work together to build upon what you can do and to build up your confidence, as you feel able to move forward at your pace.

Please contact me, so that we can discuss things informally and then plan a way forward together.   The initial discussion is free.
